The tide seems to be turning for the better for the Williams Hunt Chevrolet Cruze racing team. Aldo Scribante, Port Elizabeth proved to be a favorable track for the Chevrolet Cruze. The practice rounds on the Friday went well with Michael finishing 5th in the first practice and winning the second practice round.
The team headed into the racing on Saturday quietly confident the Chevrolet Cruze was performing well and that a podium finish was possible. The qualifying round was first up on Saturday morning. Everything seemed to fall in place and the team had the best possible result, pole for the first 8 lap event. Michael got off to a good start, leading for the first three laps with a Golf and a Mini hot on his heels. A slight loss of concentration resulted in the two getting by. The ever determined Michael fought back and was able to get the teams second win of the series.
The second 8 lap race was started in reverse order of the first event with Michael starting from 6th. With some safe driving the Chevrolet Cruze finished in 5th, a good indication of how competitive the T class production cars really are. The final feature race of the day was a 16 lap race. Getting off from 5th on the grid was not ideal but Michael was up for the challenge and certainly gave it his best shot. After 16 laps the Williams Hunt Chevrolet Cruze crossed the finish line in third giving the team an overall second for the event.
The series now heads back up to the Highveld to Zwartkops, Pretoria on the 4th May. We hope to see you there.
