With Saturday arriving the team was looking forward to a good days racing, Michael quietly confident with the performance of the Williams Hunt Chevrolet Cruze in practice on the Friday. Unfortunately the day started in the worst possible way with the car loosing the ABS braking system in qualifying resulting in a start from the back of the grid for the first race of the day. With the first race underway and things starting to look better with Michael having worked his way up to 3rd when on the final lap a tyre blew. The Williams Hunt Chevrolet Cruze was not able to finish.
The second race was a reverse order start putting Michael out in front. Getting off to a good start the Chevrolet Cruze lead the race until lap 4, a slight driver error and the Cruze went briefly off the track although Michael was able to keep it together, he lost 3 places finishing fourth.
For the third race of the day, a longer race, Michael quickly got the Chevrolet Cruze into a steady pace sitting comfortably in fourth position. As luck would have it as the race entered the final laps an engine problem ended the teams chance of a good finish. A really disappointing weekend.
On a happier note Michael was impressed with the new engine and will certainly be giving it everything at Zwartkops later this month.
The series now heads up to Zwartkops, Pretoria on the 31st of August.
We hope to see you there!
